Um den Keller in Zukunft vor Feuchtigkeit zu schützen und zu isolieren, werden die Kellerwände von außen freigelegt. Zusätzlich werden die Fundamente zum Teil verstärkt, damit eine dichte Bodenplatte hergestellt werden kann und somit Kälte und Feuchte von unten vermieden wird.
In kleinen Abschnitten von jeweils einem Meter wird das Fundament im Keller freigelegt und anschließend tiefer neu gegossen. Eine mühevolle Arbeit, die von unserer Baufirma Pittel & Brausewetter sehr umsichtig erledigt wird.
Im Außenbereich wird der Keller freigelegt – ein ganz neuer Blick auf das Bauwerk!
Die Ziegelwände waren auch bauzeitlich durch eine Art Bitumen-Anstrich isoliert. Diese Isolierung hat aber nicht gut genug gehalten und der Keller war sehr feucht.
Einer großen Grabung bedarf es auch, um den Kanal zu erneuern, der unter dem Keller verläuft und das Haus ebenso tief unter dem Dienstboteneingang verlässt. Dafür musste auch der Torbogen gut gesichert und unterfangen werden.

Excavation and Foundation
To protect the basement from moisture and insulate it in the future, the basement walls are being exposed from the outside. In addition, parts of the foundation are being reinforced so that a watertight floor slab can be constructed, thereby preventing cold and moisture from seeping in from below.
In small sections of one meter each, the basement foundation is being exposed and then recast at a deeper level. This is painstaking work that our construction company, Pittel & Brausewetter, is carrying out with great care.
The basement is being exposed on the exterior—a whole new view of the building!
The brick walls were also insulated at the time of construction with a type of bitumen coating. However, this insulation did not hold up well enough, and the basement was very damp.
Extensive excavation is also required to replace the sewer line that runs beneath the basement and exits the house just as deep beneath the servants’ entrance. To do this, the archway also had to be securely supported and shored up.
