A Look Back at the Symposium “Open Modernism – The Future of Villa Beer”
On February 24, 2022, the symposium began in the afternoon at Villa Beer. All participants who had already arrived gathered for a guided tour of the house and garden.
This was followed by two days packed with a full schedule of presentations, the content of which will continue to guide us. The expertise that ÖGFA and DOCOMOMO Austria brought together through the program’s design and the selection of speakers was impressive, valuable, and forward-looking for our project.
On Sunday, we once again invited all participants to Villa Beer for follow-up discussions. Here, together with our architect Christian Prasser, we had the opportunity to present the current status of the project planning as well as initial insights into our vision for the future of Villa Beer.
These were intense and productive days—in a sense, we view this symposium as the starting point and foundation for the further implementation of the Villa Beer project. It was a great success to bring together international experts with experts from Vienna to form a community aimed at providing broad scholarly support for the public opening of this building. We will remain in contact with many of the speakers, which will allow us to critically examine and align our next steps so that we can move forward into the future in the best possible way.
We would like to take this opportunity to once again thank ÖGFA and DOCOMOMO Austria!
