Seit 2022 ist die Villa Beer Mitglied von Iconic Houses einem internationalen Netzwerk von architekturhistorisch bedeutenden Häusern des 20. Jahrhunderts. Von 22. bis 26. Mai fand die 7. Internationale Iconic Houses Konferenz in Prag statt.
Neben den Hauptvorträgen der Konferenz von Vladimir Slapeta und Burkhardt Rukschcio wurden in kurzen Einheiten, den Iconic-Shorts, 18 ikonische Häuser und Wohnungen vorgestellt. Auch die Villa Beer konnte so präsentiert werden.
Die Nachmittage waren Besuchen von Häusern und Wohnungen in Prag und Umgebung gewidmet, so stand zum Beispiel die Villa Müller von Adolf Loos und die Villa Rothmayer von Otto Rothmayer, die eine ähnliche Epoche und Geschichte abdecken wie die Villa Beer, auf unserem Programm. Aber auch Häuser aus anderen Zeiten und mit ganz anderen Geschichten, wie das „One Family House“ in Lidice oder das „Museum of Towerblocks“ in Kladno konnten wir besichtigen.
Sehr spannend war es für uns zu sehen wie unterschiedlich diese Iconic Houses geführt und welche didaktischen Konzepte jeweils verfolgt werden. Zwei intensive Lern-Tage!
Nach der Konferenz reiste ein Teil der Teilnehmer:innen noch durch Tschechien, Slowenien und auch nach Österreich, um weitere ikonische Häuser zu besuchen. In Wien stand natürlich auch die Villa Beer am Programm und wir durften 50 Mitglieder dieses internationalen Netzwerkes willkommen heißen. Wir sind sehr glücklich über die Offenheit der Iconic Houses Mitglieder und ihre Bereitschaft Erfahrungen und Wissen zu teilen. Wir konnten wertvolle persönliche Kontakte knüpfen und der Austausch in Bezug auf die Sanierung, erfahrene Handwerksbetriebe und den späteren Besucher:innenverkehr hilft uns natürlich sehr weiter.

Iconic Houses Conference – 2023 Prague
Since 2022, Villa Beer has been a member of Iconic Houses, an international network of 20th-century homes of architectural and historical significance. The 7th International Iconic Houses Conference took place in Prague from May 22 to 26.
In addition to the conference’s keynote speeches by Vladimir Slapeta and Burkhardt Rukschcio, 18 iconic houses and apartments were presented in short sessions known as the “Iconic Shorts.” Villa Beer was also featured in this way.
The afternoons were devoted to visits to houses and apartments in Prague and the surrounding area; for example, our itinerary included the Villa Müller by Adolf Loos and the Villa Rothmayer by Otto Rothmayer, which span a similar era and share a similar history to the Villa Beer. But we were also able to visit houses from other eras with very different histories, such as the “One Family House” in Lidice or the “Museum of Towerblocks” in Kladno.
It was very exciting for us to see how differently these Iconic Houses are managed and what educational approaches each one takes. Two intensive days of learning!
After the conference, some of the participants continued traveling through the Czech Republic, Slovenia, and even Austria to visit additional Iconic Houses. In Vienna, Villa Beer was naturally on the itinerary, and we were delighted to welcome 50 members of this international network. We’re very happy about the openness of the Iconic Houses members and their willingness to share their experiences and knowledge. We were able to make valuable personal connections, and the exchange of ideas regarding renovation, experienced craft businesses, and future visitor traffic is, of course, a great help to us.
