Im Zuge der Sanierungsarbeiten entdeckten wir nach und nach, dass an sehr vielen Stellen im Haus die alten Unterputzdosen aus Holz vorhanden sind. Auch die Zugdosen der Elektrik sind weitgehend im Original erhalten und die Kabelführung aus 1930 ist in Rohren geführt und lässt sich immer noch bewegen.
So konnte gemeinsam mit der beauftragten Elektrofirma Palmeshofer eine Lösung gefunden werden, die neue Elektrik beinahe komplett in den alten Rohren und Dosen zu verlegen. Der große Vorteil daran ist, dass nur ganz wenige Leitungen aufgestemmt werden müssen und dass die Lichtschalter und Steckdosen am ursprünglichen Platz in den alten Holzdosen montiert werden können. Ermöglicht wird dies durch die Verwendung moderner Technologie. Das sogenannte KNX System benötigt für das Funktionieren der Schalter nur sehr dünne Kabel und keine 220 Volt Stromversorgung und passt daher mit den beinahe 100 Jahre alten Strukturen zusammen.
Es war eine spannende Herausforderung möglichst alle originalen Stromauslässe zu finden. Viele Lampenanschlüsse und Steckdosen wurden im Laufe der Jahre verschlossen und konnten erst jetzt wieder entdeckt werden. So ist auch eine bisher unerkannte Deckenleuchte (bzw. der Auslass dafür) im Wohnzimmer zum Vorschein gekommen. Ein besonderer Dank gilt hier der Firma Palmeshofer und ihrer Belegschaft für die besonders sorgfältige Umsetzung dieser ungewöhnlichen Arbeiten!

Old and New Electrical Systems
In the course of the renovation work, we gradually discovered that the old wooden flush-mounted boxes were present in many places throughout the house. The electrical pull boxes have also been largely preserved in their original state, and the wiring from 1930 runs through conduits and can still be moved.
Working together with the electrical contractor Palmeshofer, we were able to find a solution to run the new electrical wiring almost entirely through the old conduits and boxes. The major advantage of this is that very few walls need to be chiseled open, and the light switches and outlets can be installed in their original locations within the old wooden boxes. This is made possible by the use of modern technology. The so-called KNX system requires only very thin cables for the switches to function and does not need a 220-volt power supply, making it compatible with the nearly 100-year-old structures.
It was an exciting challenge to locate as many of the original electrical outlets as possible. Many light fixture connections and outlets had been sealed off over the years and could only now be rediscovered. For example, a previously undiscovered ceiling light (or rather, the outlet for it) in the living room has now come to light. Special thanks go to the Palmeshofer company and its staff for their exceptionally careful execution of this unusual work!
